For my second challenge, I decided to do meted crayon art. The materials I used for this project were a canvas, crayons, a glue gun, and a blow dryer. For the process, the first thing I did was sort crayons out in the order I wanted. Then, I used a hot glue gun to glue the crayons on the canvas. The last thing I did was blow dry the crayons to melt them. The part i enjoyed the most was melting the crayons with the blow dryer because I liked seeing the melted crayon run down and off the canvas. A technique I used for this is to hold the dryer straight down on top of the crayons instead of holding the dryer horizontally straight forward onto the canvas. When I held the dryer horizontally, the crayon splattered all over the place other than running straight down. I think I would add a quote at the bottom to add something a bit more. When I was using the blow dryer to melt the crayons, my mom said don't over do it. I think that would be a good message.
My first art challenge was the recycled sculpture. The shape of it is the bear from the California flag because I really want to go to California someday. The materials I used for my project is a piece of cardboard for the back or the base. ( whatever you want to call it ) Then, I ripped pages out of magazines and rolled them around a pencil and then glued them so they could stay. For the process, the first thing I did was cut a piece of cardboard and then trace the California bear on it. Then, I ripped pages out of magazines and rolled them around a pencil and glued them. Then, I used a hot glue gun to glue the magazines down to the cardboard. The last thing I did was cut the rolled up magazines down to the shape of the bear. My favorite part of this project was the magazines because I could place the order I wanted them to go in, I could choose the color scheme, and the side of the magazine I wanted to face upwards. What I might add to my project would probably be the words California Republic at the bottom like the flag does in case someone doesn't know what it looks like. I felt confident in this project because I felt like I could push myself.
This is my relationship portrait. The picture is of me and my sister, Shaelie. She is very special to me because well she is my sister and because she is super fun to be around. She is like a best friend to me. First, I took a picture with her. Then, I erased her entire body out of the picture using the app Sketchbook. I also added a landscape of a mountain because I've always wanted to go on a hike and see a mountain in real life.
